Buying through the Theme Store

1. Open the Munich listing in the Shopify Theme Store and choose Try theme. The theme is added to your theme library as an unpublished theme, with your own products in it, and you can work on it for as long as you like before you pay.
2. When you are ready, choose Buy theme in the theme library. The licence is tied to your store, and updates are free for as long as you own it.
3. You can install the theme on a second store you own, but each store needs its own licence.

Installing from a zip file

If you received Munich as a zip file:

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. In the theme library, choose Add theme → Upload zip file.
3. Pick the zip file and confirm. Shopify unpacks it and adds Munich to your library.

Do not unzip the file first, and do not rename it. The zip is the theme.

What you get after installing

Munich installs with the Munich preset: the home page, product page, collection page and all the other templates already contain sections with sample content, arranged the way the demo store is arranged. That is intentional. It is much quicker to swap text and images in a page that already works than to build one from scratch.

Sections that need store data (a collection, a blog, a product) pick up whatever your store has. If a section shows nothing, it is usually because the resource it points to is not set yet. The page for that section tells you what it needs.

Publishing

1. In the theme library, open Customize on Munich and check the home page, one product page and the cart. Quick setup walks you through the first half hour.
2. When it looks right, go back to Online Store → Themes and choose … → Publish on Munich.
3. Your previous theme stays in the library. Keep it there for a week or two in case you want to compare something.

Publishing changes the storefront immediately. Your products, collections, pages, blog posts and customer accounts are store data, not theme data, and are not affected by switching themes. Menus are store data too, but the header and footer of the new theme need to be told which menus to show. Quick setup covers that.
